Irish-Language Song (Dé Luain) — 7.00–8.30pm | €160 | Cláraigh » |
Aimed at those who are in the process of learning the Irish language at a beginner or intermediate level, you will encounter songs from this same tradition under the direction of a recognised singer. The course will cover a selection of Irish-language songs, including several relating to Co. Donegal and Ulster. The songs will be explained and their background and meaning will be discussed. Participants will be guided in pronunciation and there will be plenty of opportunities for the group to practice singing in a relaxed and encouraging environment. Songs often provide an insight into important idioms as well the history and culture of Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity to improve your understanding of the language and enrich your vocabulary.
Participants at a more advanced stage of learning or who have more experience with Irish-language song may wish to consider our Sean-nós Singing course.
Timetable
Participants will attend one class per week from 7.00–8.30pm (Irish time) on Monday evenings. The course includes eight live online classes starting September 29th, 2025. There will be a mid-term break during the week beginning October 27th.
